BACKGROUND
Tourism is an activity that can help to achieve a high level of economic and
social development as demonstrated by examples of many countries. It would promise
the way to develop the export of tourism services and services based on technology
transfer. It must be acommpanied by greater equitable distribution of revenues
generated by international tourism flows, otherwise, the benefits may bring
detrimental consequences for people and their environment.
Indonesia as the developing country has assets to develop their tourism. The
quest of technology transfer is also become a major challenge for Indonesia.
The spread of information, discussion and learning from best practice would
be the potential ways to distribute the knowledge and idea to develop technology
transfer in tourism and hospitality industry. It is, therefore, Gadjah Mada
University under Graduate School and Center for Tourism Studies (CTS) will conduct
the International seminar for “TRANSFER OF TECHNOLOGY IN THE TOURISM and
HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY”.
PURPOSE
At the end of this program, participants will be able to:
a. Understand principles, philosophy and concepts of technology transfer in
tourism and hospitality industry as applied in developing countries with reference
to culture, nature and community.
b. Learning the best practice of transfer technology from others tourism service
and product providers.
c. Understand the roles of all stakeholders in the process of technology transfer
that would increase the comparative and absolute benefit for tourism development.

1. Design, production and quality on technology application.
2. Management of technology transfer.
3. Environmental aspect on technology application.
4. Technology application on tourism promotion and marketing.
5. The role of stakeholders.
6. Social and cultural implication of technological transfer in tourism industry.
TIME and VENUE
The International Seminar will be held at Monday and Tuesday, 29-30 November
2010, Gedung Sekolah Pascasarjana LT.5, University of Gadjah Mada Yogyakarta,
Indonesia.
